Recover locked Memory Cards Passwords(MMC,microSD)

Some times it happens that you forgot the password of your memory card (MMC, micro SD) and you have lots of your important data in it. and You struggle to get back your password. Right? Today am going to show you how you can recover the lost password of your memory card with the help of nokia phone.

It is possible only if you have Nokia’s s60 phone (eg: 6600, 6610, N70,N73,E63,E71,N95)
The thing you got to do is download and install “Fileexplorer” software.

After installing follow the steps:
1. Open FExplorer and access the c: drive.
2. There u will find a file named ‘mmcstore’
3. Rename the file to: ‘mmcstore.txt’
4. The file will now open in notepad
5. U will get your password written in the notepad file

Note #1: I think only few s60 phones have microSD slots. so you got to get a MMC adapter (costs around Rs.50). fit your microSD card in it and insert the MMC in your phone.

Note #2: If you Just want to format your card (without recovery of data), then just get a microSD card reader and format it

Enable Malayalam in Android Phone

(Note: This post is not created by me. This is written by Ayush Chand. Credit goes to him.)


Recently I found out that Android phones does not come with Indian Languages such as Malayalam and other Indian Languages pre-installed. So reading Malayalam blogs was not possible as Android phones does not support Regional languages. It was a shame that Google did not provide support for Indian languages even though Android Phones became extremely popular in India.


It was also impossible to read popular Malayalam news sites like Manorama Online without this hack!


In order to install Malayalam font on your Android Device you need to root your phone. Rooting lets you access to the internal memory of your phone where the font files are located. There are many other uses of rooting too. You can Google the ways to root your phone or try to find out from here. Be careful while rooting your phone because a slight mistake can brick your phone.


                                   

Here is how to Install or Read/Write Malayalam fonts on Android Phones

1. Root your Android Phone.

2. Download ES File Explorer from Android Market. After Installation, open ES File Explorer and navigate to setting and check "Root Explorer" and "Mount File System". It might ask you Super User Permissions. Click "Allow". Also Change the Home directory to "/"

3. Download DroidSansFallback.ttf from here. Copy it to the SD card of your phone via USB 

3. Now the ES Explorer's home menu should appear like the image shown below

From there, navigate to System->Fonts and paste the file you just downloaded. It will ask you to overwrite the existing file. Choose wisely. 

 Now open any browser and go to a Malayalam blog and see the magic. Now Manorama Online works perfect for me. See the image below.

How to write Malayalam on your Android phone?


1. Download Panini Keypad from here. 


2. Navigate to Settings->Locale and text and Check "PaniniKeypad Malayalam".

3. Now to go the text box where you want to type Malayalam and tap on it for  "Input Method" and choose PaniniKeypad Malayalam".

Enable Malayalam on your GNU/Linux Distribtution

Malayalam Support in Ubuntu 8.04

• Download the necessary packages from here install them using the dpkg command.
• Uncompress the downloaded file
• Open a terminal and cd to the directory and issue the command:

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Install malayalam support for Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 and Ubuntu 7.10 from CDROM

1. Download the Malayalam CD Image for Debian 4.0/IT@School 3.0 or that for Ubuntu 7.10u
2. Burn the ISO to CD (choose the option burn from image in your cd burning application; on GNU/Linux systems, right click on the ISO file and choose 'write to disk' option)
3. Open synaptic package manager (Desktop -> Administration -> Synaptic package manager)
4. In synaptic edit menu, choose add cdrom
5. Search for the package "ml-debian-patch" (for debian) or for "ml-ubuntu-patch" (for ubuntu) as the case may be
6. Mark for installation
7. Apply to start installing the application

• If you prefer to use a terminal then

1. Log in as root and give the following two commands
2. apt-cdrom add
3. apt-get install ml-debian-patch (for debian 4.0/ it@school gnu/linux 3.0 ) or apt-get install ml-ubuntu-patch (for ubuntu 7.10)

This will install few patches that fix the rendering issues in GNOME and OpenOffice and install the fonts Rachana, Meera and Suruma.

The CDROM also contain packages for phonetic input (Swanalekha and Mozhi). The package ml-phonetic will install SCIM and the phonetic malayalam input methods.

Enable Malayalam in Windows XP

• Goto Conrol Panel
• Open "Regional and Language Options"
• Goto "Language" Tab
• Tick "Install files for Complex Scripts"

• Insert Windows XP CD when asks.
• After copying the language files, reboot the system.
• After reboot, goto control panel
• Goto "Language" Tab
• Click "Details" Button

• Select "Malayalam" from Input Language List.

• Now you can see Language Bar at Taskbar.
• Press Alt+Shift for switching languages.

Download and Install a font

• Copy a Unicode font from your computer. Eg: Meera ( Download Malayalam unicode fonts)
• Then Goto Control Panel, and Select Fonts Directory
• Paste the font there
• Done..!

Transliteration Method(Mozhi-Keyman) 

• To get phonetic keyboard in windows download and install mozi keyman

Disable Windows XP Indexing Service - Save RAM and CPU

If you are searching for an unnecessary service built into XP, then definitely the final answer is Windows Indexing Service. What is the benefit of this service? When we enabled this service, it is very easy to search the files more quickly. We can use Google Desktop for that service.

This service(WIS) eat up a lot of CPU on our machine. You can disable it if you have a large amount of files on your PC like me...

• Goto Control panel > Administrative Tools > Services
• Double click on the Indexing Service and Change the startup to disabled.
• Hit the stop button if it started.

Remove Scratches from LCD Screens - Simple Methods

Cleaning by Pencil Eraser

• Clean the affected area with pure water and a neat lint-free cloth.
• Take a new clean pencil eraser(Must have no pencil graphite)
• Gently rub over the scratch area with the eraser.
• Continue rubbing until scratch disappears

Cleaning by Alcohol

• Make a solution of Diluted Isopropyl Alcohol and water with 50-50 proportion.
• Clean the affected area with distilled water and a lint-free cloth
• Pour a little amount of the solution in an edge of a clean lint-free cloth.
• Gently work in to the scratched area. Keep close to the affected area.
• Continue patiently until the solution dissolves the anti-glare coating to be filled over the scratched area.
• Remove the alcohol by gently buff by a clean cloth.
• Dry the area

Cleaning by Vaseline

• Clean the scratched surface.
• Take some Vaseline in a clean cloth and fill it with the scratch.
• Gently wipe of the excess content of Vaseline.
• Be careful, don't press too deeply.
